Cooper Split Roller Bearing Types

Shaft assemblies are normally supported by one retained Cooper split bearing and one or more expansion Cooper split bearing.

The retained Cooper bearing has shoulders either integral to the inner raceway or by means of hardened clamping ring shoulders, whilst the outer has integral shoulders.

These completely locate the Cooper bearing, allowing accommodation of location forces and external thrust loads.

The expansion bearing has inner ring shoulders as the retained bearing however the outer raceway is plain, this allows almost resistance free movement of the inner ring and roller set through the plain outer ring.
